It depends on how often you will wear the piece. We work mostly in 18-karat for engagement rings and everyday wear because it holds a setting firmly, and in 22-karat for bridal sets, bangles and temple jewellery where the deeper yellow tone matters. Pure 24-karat is too soft for daily use and is usually kept for ceremonial or investment pieces.
Both are real diamonds with the same physical properties; the difference is origin and how they are documented. Natural stones carry a longer history and often a higher resale expectation, while lab-grown stones let you put more of the budget into size or setting quality. We show both side by side during a consultation so you can judge the look in person.
For a ring, wrap a strip of paper around the base of the finger, mark where it meets and measure the length in millimetres against a ring size chart. For a bangle, close your hand and measure across the widest part of the knuckles, then add a small allowance for the clasp. Fingers and wrists change with weather and time of day, so measure in the afternoon and bring the numbers to us for a final check.
Fine filigree and antique finishes tarnish faster than plain polished gold, so keep them away from perfume, hairspray and household cleaners. Wipe each piece with a dry, soft cloth after wearing and store it separately in a lined pouch so the wirework does not bend or catch on other items. Skip ultrasonic cleaners on antique or stone-set pieces; a short professional clean at the studio is safer.
Our in-house bench takes on ring resizing, chain soldering, clasp replacement, stone tightening, re-tipping of worn claws and re-polishing of dull surfaces. We start with a condition check and explain what can be restored and what is better left untouched, especially on older or heirloom pieces. Bring the item in for an assessment before any work begins.
A straightforward engagement ring usually runs a few weeks from approved sketch to final polish, and more complex bridal sets or temple pieces take longer because of hand-setting and finishing. You receive a written quote and a timeline at the start, so you always know where the piece stands. Repairs are scheduled separately and often move faster than new commissions.
